Umakant Keshav Apte (Baba Saheb Apte) was the first Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). In 1930 when Dr. Hedgewar joined Satyagraha, he gave Babasaheb Apte the responsibility of Shakha working. In 1931, Baba Saheb officially became whole timer swayamsewak and he didn't rest until his death in July 1972. During these years he inspired so many karyakartas and young volunteers including Anantrao Gokhale, Nanaji Deshmukh, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay and many more to dedicate their lives for nation building. He was not only hard working and dedicated but also very learned and educated. He read innumerable books and his in-depth knowledge was reflected in his speeches and articles. His speeches were very thought -provoking, simple and they touched the hearts of audience. He gave new dimension and direction to old beliefs.
